The Board of Elders reports to the Membership Body of the church. The Board shall give Oversight and Direction to the Pastor and all aspect of the Spiritual Life of the Church and will communicate and cooperate with other board members as needed to accomplish the following duties.
l. Welcome Oversight and Direction from the Members
II. Elect a Chairman to oversee Functioning of the Elder Board as duties are pursued.
lll. Be involved in giving oversight and direction to the Pastor
lV. Meet monthly to attend to the spiritual needs of the Church and Members
A. The Elder Board Chairman shall preside
B. Roberts Rules of order as revised by the Deacon Board shall be used to manage and document the meeting.
C. Monthly Meetings may be optionally conducted by conference call
V. Assist the Pastor with spiritual needs of the church and community.
Vl. Aid the Pastor and Deacons in financial decisions helping families/or person in need
Vll Be visible as Elder's in Sunday Church Services by ...
A the reading of Scripture
B. the serving of communion
C. standing with the Pastor at conclusions of Service as an additional spiritual resource being available to pray with individuals as needed.
VIll. The Elders will oversee "lay readers" of scripture before the Pastor's sermon.
lX. Make an effort to speak to and welcome everyone quickly at church and further send cards, phone calls or visits following service as appropriate to visitors. Also, encourage attendance by providing a friendly atmosphere before, during and after Sunday services. Later, Elders will provide welcome packets and follow-up
X. Send cards of encouragement and hope to all church members and community members as needed including those who have been ill or are in troubled times.
Xl. Elders may receive Reimbursement for up to $100 per month for gas, cards, postage, and related expenses.
Xll. One Elder will serve on the Budget Committee.
Xlll. Perform all other duties designated by the Lord’s Chapel Constitution or pertaining to the office.
